Features All Players Rated FIDE 2700 and Above Right Now!

The Live Top List is an unofficial chess rating list that intends to cover all players with a current, live rating of 2700 and above in the FIDE rating system. The official FIDE list is now published 6 times each year, while this list is updated and published as games and tournaments are being played, typically with daily updates during tournaments featuring top players.

To check whether an event is rated, see the list of rated events in the current rating period.

In a Live Top List, rating changes and number of games & events rated are relative to the official FIDE list at the time the specific Live Top List is published. Lists published in September and October are relative to the September list, lists published in November and December are relative to the November list, and so on.

• Note that from July 1st 2009, the 350-rule has become the 400-rule, so that the minimum gain from winning a game has been reduced from 1,1 points to 0,8 points. Put differently, the maximum expectancy has been increased from 0,89 points to 0,92 points in a single game.
• Players mentioned in brackets [] in the tournaments listing (obviously) participated in the event, and their games have been rated for the top list. Note however, that I will only list players that are (or have been) present in the Live Top List, even if I "secretly" might rate other participants as well.

The Live Top List - Work In Progress

The functionality of the Live Top List is being extended - the most recent addition that changes the behaviour and capabilities, is that of a simple graph (bar) view, showing player ratings (in points above 2700) in addition to average for the top 10 and all of the 2700+ players. I intend to add at least one more bar view with more details about the top 10, and probably also some additional brush ups, like caching of the generated graphs. Currently everything is done on the fly, which is sort of nice, but a bit slow and might represent some strain on the web server during peak hours.

I don't have too much time to spend for this project, but I've (still) got more ideas for improvements and additions, and hopefully I'll get around to implementing even more of them soon - but don't hold your breath! Please do check back for rating updates, as those will take place quite regularly.
